My skincare routine
Hi everyone
One of the biggest things I'm struggling with is my skin. I had really acne a few months ago and I got really frustrated about it. Acne is usually on the list of symptoms when you Google Hypothyroidism, this I find really frustrating. A list of symptoms that I'm just suppose to accept and live with, I don't think so. I'm not on any other hormone medication besides my Euthyrox so my hormones aren't always perfectly balanced. My periods are not every 28 days, sometimes it's really late and other times early. Obviously this also plays a factor with the acne I'm getting. Having Hypothyroidism can cause your hormones to be a bit all over the place. Throughout the time I was struggling with acne I just continued with the skincare routine I was following, only difference is I started using toner. It wasn't long before it cleared up. Now I only get spots hear and there around the time I have my period.
This is my skincare routine (I'm no specialist, this is what's currently what is working for me):
I wear makeup every day, except when I'm at home all day, so it is very important to remove it properly. I use Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for sensitive skin (about R69.95 for 400ml) on some cotton wool to remove my makeup.
I wash my face twice a day with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser Water Gel (about R97.75 for 200ml). I dry my face with a towel I only use for my face.
I then use Nature's Nourishment Earth Choice Shea Butter Facial Toner for dry skin (about R39.95 for 250ml) on some cotton wool after I washed my face.
Every Friday might I exfoliate my face by using Neutrogena pore & shine daily scrub (about R87.56 for 150ml), I also wash my face after this with my Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser because otherwise I struggle to get all the micro-beads completely washed off.
I moisturize my face using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel (about R99.95 for 50ml). It says new on it and to me it feels like it definitely is a new and improved formula, so if you tried it before and it didn't work maybe try it again. Also, I can't really tell the difference between the water gel and water cream.
For my body I use Sanex dermo pro hydrate shower & bath gel for very dry skin (about R66.95 for 750ml). After using this my skin feels moisturized, this works better in my opinion than the Nivea in shower moisturizer I previously used.
Have a great day and stay moisturized 😉
xoxo
